The weekend of August 17th -19th a Frostburg and Delta Phi Omega tradition will be reborn in beautiful Williamsport, MD with the first-annual ShinDig. This three day event will feature The Lightest DJ, Tim Perez, on the main stage Friday night. Saturday will be a filled with live music from The Let There Be Rock School of Frederick Maryland; Velveeta; Super, Thanks For Asking; The Johnsons – featuring The Porcupines; Seedbox; and Children of the Grave. We are stoked to announce that our headline act will be none other than The Kelly Bell Band. Be sure to stick around Sunday to enjoy activities at our beautiful riverside property. RV and tent camping at our riverside venue is encouraged but limited.
All proceeds from this event, after expenses, will benefit Jeffy’s Field and Brooke’s House. Jeffy’s Field honors the memory of Jeffrey Hayek of New Market, MD, who passed away at the age of 10 from blood clotting complications. Because Jeff was an avid baseball player, the Hayek family has established the Jeffrey Hayek Memorial Fund to build Jeffy’s Field, a field of dreams diamond in New Market, and support other youth baseball initiatives in Frederick County: www.jeffysfield.com/
Brooke’s House is in honor of Brooke Simmers who died of a heroin overdose on April 14th 2015. To ensure that Brooke’s life was not in vain, her parents, Kevin and Dana Simmers, created Brooke’s House as a legacy to their daughter’s struggle with addiction, and a community resource to help save the lives of other women struggling with drug abuse:http://brookeshouse.org/
Please come out and join us for this fantastic music festival and weekend of fun for two truly inspirational causes.
