What is Brooke’s House?

Brooke’s House is a substance use treatment program in Washington County, Maryland. We offer:

• Residential Inpatient treatment for women
• Outpatient services for men, women, children and adolescents
• DUI/DWI Education Classes, and
• Transition Housing for women.

Individuals who receive treatment at our specialized facility receive comprehensive care for substance abuse issues. This includes therapy, counseling, access to medically assisted treatment (MAT), and support services designed to help individuals overcome addiction and build a foundation for long-term recovery.

How long does your residential treatment program typically last?

The length of stay depends on individual needs and the severity of the addiction. Our residential inpatient program generally lasts from 3 to 6 months, but some may extend to 8 months or more for those with complex cases or co-occurring disorders.

How do I get into Brooke’s House?

Choose from one of these options…. Your future depends on what you do today.

1. Call us at 240-267-2230. It doesn’t matter if you are a man, woman or child. We will help you get treatment today!

2. Call us at 240-267-2230 and schedule an assessment. Don’t have transportation? No worries! We’ll pick you up and take you home. Assessments generally take 1 hour.

3. Visit our website www.brookeshouse.org and complete an Application for Service form. Once completed this form can be emailed to admissions@brookeshouse.org.

Service applications can be completed by the individual seeking help or by a health care provider, family or friend.

Once an application is received, one of our licensed counselors will call you within 24 hours for a pre-screening phone interview to determine eligibility and level of care.

Will my insurance cover the cost of treatment?

Brooke’s House accepts Maryland Medicaid. If you don’t have insurance, we will assist you in acquiring state insurance with no delay in admission.

If you have Medicaid in a different state, we will assist you in transferring it to Maryland with no delay in admission.

If you have private insurance, we will see if you qualify for a treatment scholarship or a self-pay sliding scale.

What should I bring to residential treatment?

You should bring:

• Comfortable clothing and personal hygiene items.
• Any prescribed medications and a list of medications you’re currently taking.
• Important documents, such as ID, birth certificate, social security card and insurance information.
• Personal items for leisure (books, journals, etc.)

Avoid bringing items that may be prohibited, such as illegal substances, weapons, or valuables.

Will I be able to contact my family and friends?

Brooke’s House allows for scheduled phone calls and scheduled visits from family and friends. However, communication may be limited or monitored to ensure that it does not interfere with your recovery process.

Can I have my cell phone?

Brooke’s House allows limited use of cell phones at designated times, such as during scheduled breaks or specific hours in a later phase of the program. This helps ensure that your focus remains on your treatment and recovery.

What can I expect during my stay?

During your stay, you can expect:

• To rediscover and embrace a renewed version of your true self
• A structured daily schedule that includes therapy sessions, group activities, and educational programs
• Individual counseling with a licensed therapist
• Group therapy to share experiences and support each other
• Medical care, including (MAT) if needed.
• Dental care
• Recreational activities and wellness programs to promote overall health
• Opportunities for educational advancement (GED programs, college prep)
• Access to Workforce Development programs

What happens after I complete the residential treatment program?

After completing our program, individuals engage in aftercare programs and receive ongoing support from our staff and from a network of alumni and peers. Our goal is to provide you with ongoing support to help you maintain your recovery.

Support may include outpatient therapy, support groups, alumni events, transition housing, and regular follow-up meetings with your counselor.
